How many meals do you cook on the scheduled cooking day?
A typical two-week service for two people includes five complete meals: five entrees of four portions each with appropriate side dishes. However, this is flexible to meet individual needs and larger families.

How long will you be cooking in my kitchen and do I have to be home?
The average time is 6 hours; however it varies depending on the menu. Most people are at work during the day, but some clients are home.

How will my food be stored?
Meals can be packaged family-style, for two or individually. They will be stored in a combination of reusable and disposable containers. We will discuss how you would like this done at the initial consultation. If you need appropriate containers, Local Flavours can advise you on the best types and purchase them for you to be reimbursed on the cooking day.

How do I heat the food?
Specific and easy to follow heating instructions will be left for every entrée and side dish. Most should be defrosted overnight in the refrigerator prior to re-heating.
What type of side dishes do you prepare?
Appropriate side dishes to complete the entrees that you have selected will be prepared. For example, if you have chosen Thai Beef Curry, regular or basmati rice would be prepared to accompany it. If you have specific favorites, feel free to request them.
I have special dietary needs, how can you help?
Most items prepared are healthy, low fat selections. If you are on a special diet, Local Flavours will discuss this with you and prepare entrees to suit your specific needs.
I enjoy cooking, but don't always have the time. Can I use your service on a part-time basis?
Absolutely. You can use our standard service of 10 meals to supplement your own cooking schedule.
How were the fees determined?
The fees are representative of all of the components that make up a professional Personal Chef Service. This includes the initial consultation and assessment process; customization of menu to suit your requests and dietary needs; grocery shopping; food preparation; packaging, labeling and storing the entrees.

If you consider the cost of groceries (especially those you intend to use but then throw away), time to plan a variety of healthy meals, shopping, cooking and clean up time, you?ll find the pricing to be quite affordable. If your family is like most you probably eat out quite a bit or pick up fast food. If you calculate the time and money spent on these meals, you may find that Local Flavours can save you money in addition to helping you eat healthier.

What credentials do you have to provide this service?
Local Flavours is fully insured and registered and is a Certified Safe Food Handler through the Restaurant and Food Services Association of BC and the BC Ministry of Health Services.
